Welcome to Coronado Elementary!

Coronado is truly one of the best schools in Jefferson County. The staff is experienced and knowledgeable, the parents and community are extremely supportive, and the students are the best in the world!

Coronado Elementary has a proud history of excellence. We have high expectations for all students in academics, behavior, and respect for others. We offer a variety of academic and social programs for both advanced and struggling learners. Each day, students are engaged in Literacy, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. Our goal is to prepare all students for a successful future in the 21st century and beyond. Our hope is for each child to leave Coronado skilled in critical thinking, problem solving and perseverance. Along with academic preparation, our students are encouraged to develop skills in compassion and confidence. Instruction is aligned to Jeffco’s Curriculum Alignment Project (CAP) and supported by multiple resources to achieve academic goals.

Technology supports exploration and discovery at Coronado. The use of SmartBoards, iPads, Chromebooks, Web 2.0 tools and other computer programs is integrated into learning for our teachers and students. SmartBoards, Document Cameras and access to various technologies in each classroom increase opportunities for interactive learning. Mobile carts carry over 50 wireless laptops and Chromebooks to classrooms where all students have access to the internet and other software.

Students at Coronado Elementary participate in a variety of activities including student council, before and after school clubs, choir, band and orchestra, music programs, art shows and much more. Access to multiple programs supports comprehensive community building, cooperation, and encourages students to explore multiple passion areas.

Parent participation and input is valued at Coronado Elementary. We have a very active PTA that is involved in multiple school-wide activities, fundraising endeavors and school support efforts. Our PTA meets the second Monday of the month at 6:00pm in the library. Partners in Education is our school accountability committee and serves as a parent and community advisory board for leadership at Coronado Elementary. In the fall we offer walk-in registration, a back to school meet & greet, curriculum night, parent/teacher conferences, science fair, 4th - 6th grade choir, and at least one community event sponsored by our PTA. In the spring we have another round of parent/teacher conferences, talent show, carnival, silent auction, and field day. We communicate in multiple ways through Friday Folders, classroom newsletters and websites, via our school website, and through a monthly school newsletter. Our staff is eager to work with parents for the benefit of their students.

Finally, Coronado Elementary is a school that cares about kids. We strive to prepare children to be active citizens who contribute positively to their communities. Our Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS) program teaches students our expectations for behavior. Coronado students are safe, respectful and responsible. Your child will be treated with respect at Coronado. Children will learn from their mistakes and discipline will be based on making positive choices and interacting responsibly with others. Together we are committed to the success of all children!

Sincerely,
