What is PBIS?

Positive Behavior Intervention & Supports (PBIS) is a framework or approach for assisting school personnel in adopting and organizing evidence-based behavioral interventions into an integrated continuum that enhances academic and social behavior success for all students. ( - follow this link for more information on PBIS in the school & home environment!)

How is PBIS implemented at Coronado?

At Coronado, behavior skills are taught just like academic skills. Our focus is to build a positive school-wide environment and in order to create this, we teach, support & expect the following behaviors:

Be Respectful

Be Responsible

Be Safe

As Explorers we follow the P.A.T.H. to help meet the behavior expectations and discover our potential. P.A.T.H. is an acronym that defines the values that we work towards to be the best Explorers that we can be! At Coronado, we believe if we hold our values high, we can gain skills that will help us feel proud of our positive behavior.

P - Persevere

A- Aim High

T- Think

H- Have Fun!

What happens when my child displays expected behaviors?

Any administrator, teacher, or staff member in the building can give rewards to students who display expected behaviors. Rewards include:

Coronado Gold Coins, designed by our very own students, are earned and saved up to buy prizes at the Coronado Coin Store.

Coronado Coin Store is open once a month and is run by parent and 6th grade volunteers. Students save up their coins to buy their favorite prize!

Excellent Explorer Certificates Once a week, a student in each classroom will be acknowledged as the Exellent Explorer for going above and beyond expectations. Their name is read over the loud speaker and they will receive a $10 Coronado Coin!)
